3. Cluster Models in Asian Countries

Asian countries have played the role of ‘factory of the world’, servicing the manufacturing industry of the developed countries. Over time, Asiancountries have promoted and encouraged industrial clusters and innovation capacities. Beyond its own specific objectives, the cluster initiative can help to catalyze a broader transformation of their socio-economic context.
First of all, this track will review the cluster initiatives and strategies of the Asian countries. It aims to see how clusters in Asian countries can providenew opportunities and new direction for them to compete with other countries, and to connect and to collaborate with other clusters in the globalera. Therefore various emerging issues and challenges for Asian countries regarding their cluster policies like knowledge transfer, institutionalinnovation, and building innovation capacity will be covered under this theme.
